1940
  • Jul 04, 1949 The Local Autonomy Act was enacted and proclaimed and the local autonomy was to begin on August 15 of the same year but the Act was amended for the first time on December 15, 1949.
1950
  • Jun 25, 1950 The Local Autonomy System was indefinitely postponed due to the outbreak of the Korean War
  • Apr 25, 1952 City, eup and myeon council election, provincial council election held on May 10 in the same year
1960
  • May 16, 1961 All local councils dissolved and all council activities suspended due to a military coup d'etat
1990
The First Boeun County Council
  • Dec 31, 1990 The revised Local Autonomy Act proclaimed
